Management of diesel generator sets:

In addition to serving as standby power supplies for general organizations, diesel generator sets are also often used as fire-fighting standby power sources for high-rise buildings and are generally managed by property management companies. However, because they are used extremely infrequently and the cost of maintenance and repair is very high, they often do not receive sufficient attention from managers. Over time, the standby power source becomes merely ornamental. When the standby power source is first installed, the generator set can often meet standby requirements, but if management is neglected over the long term, it may be unable to provide backup power to fire protection facilities in the event of an emergency, with consequences that can be severe. Even when used by general organizations as production standby power, failure to operate in a critical moment can lead to major economic losses. Yet generators used as fire-fighting standby power in ordinary buildings often lack effective management. In response, emergency standby power supply management regulations for high-rise civil buildings should be established, and training institutions should be set up for generator set maintenance. In addition, managers should be certified after training. Improving managers' competence is the fundamental way to ensure that diesel generator sets truly fulfill their standby function.

Operating when cooling water is insufficient or when cooling water and engine oil temperatures are too high.

Insufficient cooling water in a diesel generator will reduce its cooling effect. The diesel engine will overheat because it cannot be effectively cooled. Excessively high temperatures of cooling water and engine oil can also cause diesel engine overheating. At this time, the diesel generator's cylinder head, cylinder liner, piston assembly, valves, and other major components are subject to heavy thermal loads. Their mechanical properties, such as strength and toughness, decline sharply, increasing part deformation, reducing fitting clearances, accelerating component wear, and in severe cases causing cracks or seizure faults. Overheating of a diesel generator will also worsen the diesel engine combustion process, causing injector malfunction, poor atomization, and increased carbon deposits.

When using a diesel generator set, be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions strictly, actively participate in training, and inspect and maintain the generator set on schedule according to the user manual, so that the diesel generator set can realize its full value.
